As a sole practitioner with over 25 years experience as an attorney I attempt to give personalized attention to my clients. Some clients want legal advice, for example, a short consultation so he/she can know his/her rights, options, possible outcomes, and costs. Other clients want representation in some particular case, whether it is a simple or complex matter. Both are valued clients who are treated compassionately and with respect. I explain to the client so he/she can understand the process, not just the outcome. My goals are: (1) to give a realistic assessment of the situation with practical advice (2) to give conscientious professional effort in achieving the client's goal and communicate with the client, (3) to strive for an efficient and cost-conscious means of doing the work for the client. The client can decide whether we take a harsh or cooperative approach toward the other side in dealing with his/her situation. The client will be given options so he/she help make informed decisions during the handling of the matter.
My three primary fields of practice are:
Family Law, which includes roughly equal ratio of men and women in divorce, separation, premarital agreements. child custody, child support, divisions of assets and debts, spousal maintenance (Formerly called alimony), trial, motions, mediation, temporary orders, guardian ad litem investigations, protection orders, post-divorce matters.
Business Law, which includes individuals and companies as clients. I deal with contract & document drafting and analyzing. breach of contract matters, formation matters (incorporation, [.LC, partnership, sole proprietorship), employer- employee matters, co-owner matters, business purchase/sale. termination of business, resolving disputes (including letter writing, litigation, mediation, arbitration). and related matters.
Real Estate, which includes, buying, selling, gifting, disputes, boundaries, encroachment, adverse possession, fences, access, constructions defects, title issues, dealing with contractors and subcontractors, zoning, rights, duties, resolving disputes.
Estate Planning , which involves, wills, trusts, durable powers, doctor directives, advice, guidance, and/or representation.
I handle roughly equal numbers of matters in King and Snohomish County courts, though 1 occasionally handle matters in Pierce, Kitsap Island, or Skagit Counties.
